Thank You February Volunteers!
Thank you for a successful Pick It Up – Toss No Mas Community Trash Cleanup on Saturday, February 18th. 30 volunteers collected 1,894 pounds of trash and debris from our roads and waterways in Silver City. Thank you to the Bridge to Ridge Team, Community Youth Build, Daughters of the American Revolution Jacob Bennett Chapter, Enchanted Touch, LLC, San Vicente Consortium, and Western Institute for Lifelong Learning, for their participation in the event!
A huge shout out to the 7 volunteers who cleaned up at the River Stewardship Program stream restoration project along San Vicente Creek. Illegal placer mining had been going on along the creek during the pandemic, leaving behind 3 truckloads of litter and large items. Volunteers collected 1,293 pounds of trash and debris from the site. It will take another day’s work to get the area fully cleaned up. Since October 2021, more than 450 community volunteers have picked up 11,432 pounds of trash, debris and recyclables from Highways 180 and 90, Silver City neighborhoods, Big Ditch Park and San Vicente Creek. Thank you for doing your part to keep Silver City clean and beautiful!
