Silver City Shines with Gila Earth Day Cleanup
We are grateful for the 50 volunteers and 7 teams who joined us for the Pick It Up – Toss No Mas Gila Earth Day Community Trash Cleanup on Saturday, April 15th, 2023. Together, we removed 1,620 pounds of trash and debris and 10 pounds of recycling from our roads and waterways in Silver City. A big shout-out to the WNMU Football Team who tackled Highway 180 with enthusiasm. We also want to acknowledge Bridge to Ridge Team, Community Youth Build, Continental Divide Trail Coalition, Daughters of the American Revolution Jacob Bennett Chapter, Lotus Center Laughter, and The Mint Chips for their amazing efforts. You are the reason Silver City is cleaner and more beautiful!
Since October 2021, more than 520 community volunteers have collected 14,422 pounds of trash, debris, and recyclables from Highway 180 and 90, Silver City neighborhoods, Big Ditch Park, and San Vicente Creek. Thank you for caring for our environment and our community!
